If you have seen my Instagram feed, you already know how big a fan I am of ColourPop Cosmetics and the first item that I bought from them (and still keep buying) is their range of Lippie Stix. Today I am sharing my very long experience with these beauties and I will be talking about every finish they have. Let's do this!
If you use Lippie Stix, you might already know that they come in three finishes; Cream, Matte & Matte X. But you haven't, this post will be helpful for you to know a little more about the formula before you make your purchase.
ColourPop claims: Lippie Stix Formula contains Vitamin E, Mango, Avocado, and Shea butter for added comfort and moisture. None of our Lippie formulas contain any nasty ingredients like Parabens or Sulfates.
My General Experience:
Before I get into more detail about the individual finish, I want to share something that I have experienced with the lipsticks. Take it as generalized pros and cons.
- Highly pigmented formula.
- Gives you full coverage.
- Very lightweight formula.
- Not of the finishes caused any feathering.
- Some very dark/bright shades stain a little.
- The packaging is gorgeous & minimalist and having more and more of the same packaging makes you want to buy even more.
- These come in a huggggge shade range and undertones.
- The tube itself is really easy to work with and you get the most precise application even if you have thin lips.
- Very decently priced; 1 gram for USD $6.
- Super slim and travel-friendly.
- Not all the shades in all the finishes act the same way. (sad, I know)
- Some shades go onto the lips very smoothly but some go choppy, patchy and/or steaky.
- Inconsistency in the formula so you have to try these on an individual basis to know which ones will work for you.
- Out of all three finishes, I prefer buying Matte & Matte X more now.
That being said, I am still a huge fan of ColourPop and I am not hating the brand in any way but I have seen other bloggers and influencers saying the same thing about their other lip products as well so I assume that I am not just imagining these things. Plus, if you go to my Instagram [ @SahrishAdeel ], you can see individual swatches and can zoom into the photo to see the patchy, streaky swatches for some shades.
Disclaimer: I post the lip swatches there without any alterations to the application except for slight color correction that might be needed due to studio lighting.
Let's talk about individual formula and keep in mind the general points I mentioned above.
Crème Medium-to-full coverage lipstick that's ultra creamy and melts onto the lips.
- Very buttery and creamy texture that glides onto the lips.
- Gives you a creamy and hydrated finish.
- Does not enhance lip lines or chapped lips.
- Stays for a decent time.
- Transfers easily because creamy formulas do.
- Not all the shades of Cream finish work in the same way.
- Some of my lipsticks melted during shipping and they never went back to their original state.
Matte Full-coverage lipstick that is super long-wearing, ultra comfortable, and loaded with pigment.
- Very smooth texture that glides onto the lips.
- The texture is also a little creamier which is good because it isn't a drying formula but I wouldn't call it Matte.
- Gives you a satin-like finish and is not completely matte.
- Does not enhance lip lines or chapped lips much but I suggest keeping your lips scrubbed.
- Stays for a decent time, longer than Cream ones.
- Does not transfer too much but is still not transfer-proof. (neither does the brand claims it to).
- Not all the shades of Matte finish work in the same way.
Matte X Full-coverage, SUPER matte lipstick (think liquid lip status) with a very unique, lightweight, and velvety feel.
- Smooth and velvety texture and glides onto the lips without tugging the area.
- Gives you a matte finish but some shades are not a true matte.
- Has the tendency to enhance lip lines or chapped lips slightly so I suggest keeping your lips scrubbed and prepper.
- Stays for a longer time, longer than Matte ones.
- Does not transfer too much but is still not transfer-proof. (neither does the brand claims it to).
- Not all the shades of Matte X finish work in the same way.
Arm Swatches:
I will try and publish separate posts with arm swatches for each finish in separate photos but for now, here are the swatches from some of my collection of Lippie Stix.
Lip Swatches:
For now, I do not have lip swatches for all the shades that I own but I am working on blog posts with individual shades with reviews on each shade since there is inconsistency in the formula in my opinion. Enjoy these 14 lip swatches and let me know in the comments if you want more.
Overall I highly recommend that you give these Lippie Stix a shot and don't be scared when you do so because some shades are just ah-mazing and I keep repurchasing them.
Cost & Availability:
Each Lippie Stix costs USD $6.00 and you can buy them from ColourPop's website here. ColourPop offers free shipping to all US orders over USD $30 and all international orders over USD $50.
Thank you for your time.
