Swatches:
Swatches are taken in natural daylight and directly from the tube. A mix of Asia 2 and Ivory made a good match for me.

Overall Experience:
Since I was a kid, I always saw my mother, khala (aunt) and pretty much any elder woman in the family, using a paint stick and paint stick only. I rarely saw anyone using liquid foundations and I automatically thought that these are the only options to cover all imperfections. I saw people using them in awful ways, people looked cakey and pale but I saw my mother using sticks in many different ways which gave her many different finishes, coverages and she never looked cakey. I only understood that when I grew up and tried the sticks myself. I will share all those tips and trick with you today along with my personal experience with Stageline Paint Sticks.

Review:
These paint sticks might scare you at first because they are super pigmented and creamy. Keeping a light hand and knowing how much is good enough for you is the key. If applied properly, the paint stick gives you a flawless finish and you can control if you want sheer, medium or full coverage. It works great on a well-moisturized face, in terms of blendability. Any dry spots or dead skin, the stick has a tendency to make them visible.

The formula did not oxidize on me which is great even without a primer. As for longevity, I found that when applied for a sheer coverage, it stayed for over 6 hours but when applied for a medium to full coverage, it started to show wear and tear in about 4-5 hours and retouching was needed. I lightly dusted my t-zone with powder because of my combination skin and also because the stick itself did not need any setting with a powder. If I powdered my whole face with the intention of setting the base for the day, it made it look a bit cakey.

Overall, I am happy with the sticks but using sticks is a very tricky business when you want full coverage. I found the formula merging overtime with my skin, better on my t-zone than the cheeks. I have quite an oily t-zone and dry-ish cheeks. This product can be used for any skin type but exfoliation and moisturization are 100% must so you get a flawless finish.

Usage Guide for Paint Sticks:
You might have found yourself in a situation where you used a paint stick, the full coverage you got looked flawless but when you stepped outside and had a look in a mirror, you wanted to cry seeing all those dry patches and cakey-ness. Or maybe you never ever tried a paint stick because you always saw awful results on other? Let me share my tips and tricks that I learned from my mother which work every single time.
  • Always have a well exfoliated and well-moisturized skin to start with. This will minimize the chances of enhanced dry patches on your skin.
  • If you are using the tube to apply the product on your face, keep a very light hand. Paint sticks have a highly pigmented formula and you do not want to use the paint stick in a literal way (to paint your face).
  • If you are not comfortable using the tube, apply the product with your fingers, a brush or a wet sponge.
  • Instead of applying the product in streaks, dab the product onto your face focussing on the center of the face.
  • Start blending the product on the center of the face and spread it outwards. A wet sponge or a dense foundation brush works great for this.
  • Always use less product than what you think you need. If you are confused that you might not be able to recognize the difference and won't know the quantity you need, apply the product on half of your face and compare. You will be amazed how little of the product you need from these sticks.
  • Lightly dust the powder on areas where you get more oils. Using a fluffy powder brush is safer than using a puff to pack the powder. Remember, less is usually more and safer to start with.
  • Finally, a good quality setting spray can fix any mistake that you are unable to see or cover. It also helps to fuse the makeup with your skin, making it look a lot natural.
  • If all fails, mix your paint skin with a tiny bit of moisturizer in your hand and apply. This will give you the nicest sheer coverage. You pretty much made yourself a tinted moisturizer.

  10. I am by no means an expert in cosmetics and not a great shopper. The holiday is almost here and it's great to be able to read these reviews to help the men learn about the cosmetics and shop for the right gift for their other half.
