3 in 1 Contour Liner in 'Sea Blue' by MUA - Makeup Academy - Review & Swatch

I am always ready to try multi-purpose products since I use most of my products for more than one usual use. I had an eye on 3 in 1 Contour Pen by MUA - Makeup Academy and I finally managed to get one for my self.

3 in 1 Contour Pen by MUA - Makeup Academy:
They say: 'Create the look with this fantastic 3 in 1 Contour Eye Pen. The angles of the nib allows you to create different looks whatever your occasion. Add drama by creating big and bold eyes, go glamorous for a soft and sulty effect, or define eyes for an ultra chic finish.'

Product Description & Packaging:
This product has a plastic body and has a shape of a pen. the product comes out when you twist the pen. The plastic body is of really good quality and has a really good quality. The texture of the product is soft and creamy. It comes in eight shades and the shade I am reviewing today is Sea Blue - Shade 4. It is a light blue shade with green undertone that makes it Sea Blue.

Pros & Cons:

Pros:

  • Highly pigmented.
  • Soft & creamy texture glides on to the skin smoothly.
  • Blends easily.
  • Stays on for long hours with a primer underneath. (oily lids)
  • Does not crease if used over an eye primer.
  • Works really well as an eye shadow base.
  • Can also be used as an eyeliner for both lash line and waterline.
  • Water resistant.
  • Travel & budget friendly.
  • Non irritant.

Cons:

  • If used as an eye shadow base without a primer, it creases badly.
  • If used as an eye liner, it is not smudge proof and transfers to the skin if I open the eyes. (makes sense?)

Overall Experience:
The product claims it can be used in three ways. For me, it worked only as an eye shadow base. I applied it first as an eye liner. It was applied smoothly, pigmentation was good and added a really nice pop of color to my eyes. But as soon as I opened my eyes completely, it shifted to the skin where the lid touched. It smudged badly an was gone in sometimes. The only way it works as an eye liner is when I apply it over an eye primer and then seal it with a same color powder eye shadow.

However, when I used it as an eye shadow base, it works really great but only if applied over Professional Eye Primer by MUA - Makeup Academy (review & a makeup look here). Without primer, it creases on my oily lids. As a base, it makes any eye shadow applied over it pop so much.

Overall, I like this product to be used as an eye shadow base and since MUA has added a few more shade since I bought it, I am gonna get a few more of these.

Recommendation:
If you do not have oily lids, this product might work for you three ways. Otherwise it is a really good and affordable eye shadow base.
