Makeup Geek Brushes - Product Description & Details:
General Points:
These brushes has synthetic bristles. They all have a really nice weight and length. The ferrules are made up of gunmetal material and the handles are made up of wood but don't have that usual finish. The ones I got have espresso shaded handles and they have a really nice pearl-y / starry finish. You might be able to see that in the photos below. Next I will be talking about the brushes separately so you can have a better idea on what worked for me and what didn't. Also, I washed all these brush prior to use as that is always recommended for new brushes. Shedding in first wash is normal as well and my views would be based on more than 4-5 washes. Please note that the mentioned drying time would vary according to weather conditions in your area. I have hot weather throughout the year and I keep my brushes to dry under a ceiling fan which is turned on a low speed.

Foundation Stippling Brush - Makeup Geek

-Foundation Stippling Brush:
This brush has really tightly packed bristles at the bottom with a flat top just like Sigma's F80. To be honest, I am super in love with this brush and these days, it is hard for me to decide whether I should use MUG's Foundation Stippling Brush or Real Techniques' Expert Face Brush and you know how much I have raved about the RT one. One thing is for sure, since I am using this one by MUG, I prefer it over Sigma's F80.

This brush gives flawless and really quick application for liquid, cream and powder products. I have tried using it for foundation and finishing powder. My skin is pretty sensitive so I always prefer brushes with soft bristles and this brush has won that part too. Since the bristles are really soft, I did not notice it giving me any exfoliation while buffing the product into the skin.

Washing this brush takes a bit longer since it has really tightly packed bristles but I have always been able to successfully rinse out all the shampoo. I did not notice any shedding on multiple washes and it dries in about 6-8 hours.

Rounded Blush Brush - Makeup Geek

Rounded Blush Brush - Makeup Geek

-Rounded Blush Brush:
This brush has medium-ly packed bristles at the base and then they expand towards the top. The top the a bit rounded but is quite small if compared to general blush brush sizes. I love to be precised about my blusher, highlighter and bronzer applications and this brush has a perfect size in that matter. However, it picks up too much product which I can easily shed off by tapping it on back of my hand but when I put the brush on my cheek, it kind of blots it on one spot which I think is because the bristles are a bit too tightly packed than how they should have been for a blush brush. Every time I apply blush with this brush, I have to tone it down with another brush. But, this brush works pretty amazing for contouring; you get a really precised application and nice blending without spreading the product to other areas.

One thing that I did not like about this brush at all is that the bristles kind of poke my skin. The size of the brush is so perfect to apply powder under the eyes and to apply highlighter on cheek bones / nose but the bristles are not soft enough even for my cheeks. I would literally invest in 3-4 of these brushes if the bristles would be more softer.

Washing this brush is super quick and easy. The product / shampoo comes out really fast and it dries within 2-3 hours. Also, no shedding was seen.

Stiff Dome Brush - Makeup Geek

Stiff Dome Brush - Makeup Geek

-Stiff Dome Brush:
If I would have one line to review this brush, I would say; The best blending brush ever! Packing of bristles, size of top and stiffness is just perfect. I have always had complaints about blending brush for being two fluffy or big and while blending one shade, I often mess up the surrounding shades. But this brush is just amazing. The bristles are nicely packed and pinched at the base and spread just a little towards the top. The top is a bit rounded but bristles stay stiff which keep the brush from spreading a lot while blending the shadows.

The bristles are also soft on skin which Me Likey! Washing is super quick and easy and it dries in maximum of 3 hours or may be even faster but I never got a chance to check the brushes before about 3 hours. Again, no shedding of bristles.

Soft Dome Brush - Makeup Geek

-Soft Dome Brush:
This brush has really soft, loosely packed bristles which starts rounds at the base and expand a little towards the top. It has a pointy end but it is too fluffy for me since bristles are not stiff like Stiff Dome Brush. This is however a good blending brush but probably when you do not have harsh lines from the shadows or while using lighter shades.

Again, pretty quick and easy to wash. Dries within 3 hours and does not shed so far.

Smokey Eye Brush - Makeup Geek

-Smokey Eye Brush:
If you are looking for a brush to create quickly smokey eye makeup looks, this is the one for you. This brush has tightly packed bristles which start round at the base, stay straight towards the top and end up with a slight dome. The bristles are really soft but stiff so you can easily smudge and blend your smokey eye shadows and ever pencil liners.

You can use the same brush as a blending brush if you are like me as I love blending brushes which are stiff and don't spread much while blending. Also, it works pretty great to blend under eye concealer, to contour the nose & highlighter cupid's bow when you are looking for precision. Seriously, there is no rule saying that you cannot use eye brushes for rest of your face.

It is easy to wash and dries within 4-5 hours. Absolutely no shedding of bristles has been noticed so far. Loving this brush!

Crease Brush - Makeup Geek

Crease Brush - Makeup Geek

-Crease Brush:
Bristles of this brush are tightly packed at the base, they stay straight toward the top and end in a pointy shape. I would say that it is a bigger version of a pencil brush. This brush is perfect when you want to pack and blend the shadows in the crease at the same time, without changing brushes. It blends the shadows really nicely and since bristles are pretty stiff, they don't spread and give you a precised application and blending. You can use the same brush to create a smokey eye makeup look as the stiffness in the brush is enough to blend even a pencil liner. One thing that I didn't like about this brush is that this also has poking-bristles and I don't feel too comfortable when using this brush.

Washing this brush is quick and easy and it dries in about 2-3 hours. I noticed one or two bristles shedding on second or third wash.

Small Crease Brush - Makeup Geek

-Small Crease Brush:
This small crease brush is little brother of Crease Brush. But it has a plus point of being really soft on my skin. It is highly suitable for precision-fanatics.

Washing for this brush is super easy as well. And this one also dries within 2-3 hours. I did not notice any shedding so far. I love this brush.

-Eye Blender Brush:
One of my favourite brush among these brushes. The bristles are tightly packed and pinched at the base giving it a flat shape. The bristles spread a little towards a top and end in an angled shape. I love this brush because the bristles are really soft, a little stiff and I can pack the product on my lids using the flat side and blend with the top part. the angle at the top of the brush make it sit on the eye lid really precisely. Love this brush!

Washing for this brush is also really quick and easy. And it dries in about 2-3 hours. I noticed one bristle shedding in two out of five washes.

Pencil Brush - Makeup Geek

Pencil Brush - Makeup Geek

-Pencil Brush:
This is the brush which is my least favourite and I might never use it. The bristles are tightly packed and the brush design is perfect to be a pencil brush but the bristles are too harsh on my skin. This brush is supposed to be used under lower lash line and on inner corners of the eyes but I won't recommend it for that. The bristles are however pointy enough that I have been using it for my brows instead of eyes. And to be honest, I really liked it for brows as it gives me complete control over filling my brows. But if you are looking for a pencil brush and you don't like the brush to be harsh on your skin, this might not be the one for you.

Washing and drying is really quick and I also didn't notice any shedding of bristles. I wish this design would come with softer bristles in future.

Bent Liner Brush - Makeup Geek

-Bent Liner Brush:
This has been the most interesting brush in my collection. I always wanted to get a bent liner brush but never found it in stock on MUG's website. Luckily I got a chance to try it with new design. So far, I am trying to get a hang of it. I mean, seeing Marlena using a bent liner brush looks like a piece of cake but when I used it for the first time, I was like Holy Cow, I got to salute people who are expert at the tool. This brush has really stiff bristles and has perfect thin-ness to be y favourite eyeliner brush but I hope to get better at using it in future.

The pointy edge of the brush creates perfect winged liner. I have actually managed to create pretty fine winged liners but I am 100% sure that I am still not holding this brush right. I am loving it even though I am still trying to get a hang of it. I will make sure to update you guys with my progress in future.

Overall, I loved most of the brushes and I think each and every design is genius. I am definitely not liking the pin-stabbing-into-my-skin feel for a few but that might be just my skin and I really hope that Marlena would come up with same design + softer bristles [like Stiff Dome Brush & Smokey Eye Brush] in future, for sensitive skin types as well.
