Product Description & Packaging:
Matt Perfection Foundation comes in a black plastic compact with two compartments. One contains the product and the other carries the sponge that comes with the foundation. The sponge is the usual sponge which is used wet. The compartment that carries the sponge has small holes which I believe is to help the sponge dry up after usage, to get rid of bacteria. It also has a mirror making it travel friendly. It contains 7ml of product and comes in five shades. The shade I am reviewing today is Pink, suitable for fair to medium skin types.

Overall Experience:
Being a-not-so-happy owner of combination to oily skin, I prefer using foundations that keep my skin matte for longer hours. For me longer hours are four or more hours because my T-zone gets shiny in about two hours or so. Honestly speaking, when I first used this product, I hated it. The scent, texture, application and finish didn't work for the first time. Scent is a bit too odd for me, texture is hard to work with, application with the sponge exfoliated my skin like cray and at the end, my skin was full of dry spots all over. Scary eh? I know it is but I knew I have been facing these dry patch problem for some time and sponge never worked for my skin anyways. Let''s see what else I tried, worked or not, for me!

I gave this product two trials with the sponge but since the formula is creamy but thick that gets really dry, the sponge exfoliated my skin too much. I tried it with my Short Handle Flat Top Foundation Brush and the result was really improved instantly giving a nice coverage, less exfoliation and smooth finish. Not to forget, it blended in less time too. I still had flaky skin at the end so for my next trial I used a hydrating cream on my problematic areas. This time, I had minimum flakes and the blending time and finish was improved a lot.

The formula is creamy and thick but it feels so dry when you apply it onto the skin so even if you have oily skin, you might need to moisturize your skin first. The shade looks darker in the compact but when I swatched it, it looked white. I thought I am gonna look like a ghost but I was wrong, it covers redness, dark spots, broken capillaries really nicely even with a little product. It gives a medium coverage to dark circles as well but if you have oily skin and do not prime the area under the eyes, it will crease.

The formula is a bit hard to work with in terms of blending but it works really great with a soft foundation brush that buffs the product into the skin without going harsh. I tried using it with my fingers as well but I felt like it slides when I try to apply second layer as the formula kind of melts when comes in contact with finger pores.

I did not like the scent in this foundation at all. It is a strange scent that I am not sure where but I remember I have smelled somewhere before. However, after application, it becomes really mild so yeah it has a bright side too.

For the positive points, with a pretty good coverage, it gives a smooth finish if you moisturize properly and use a good applicator and also, this product is amazingly waterproof and does not shift onto other things like phone etc. (you are gonna read a funny story in a while)

It keeps skin matte for good two to three hours even with a moisturizer (now you can see how drying the formula is as the hydrating cream I use is for extra dry skin types). It won't run or crack if you sweat or even go under the rain.

For an ultra-smooth finish and natural look, I used MUA's Pro Base Fixing Mist and *poof* the remaining flakes were gone giving me a dewy and skin-like finish.

This foundation has a good value for money, you might think it is pricey but for this pigmentation and quantity, I think the price tag of PKR 1200 is fine.

Overall, I have mixed feeling about this product. I dislike it for the scent and for extra effort that I had to go through. But I really admire the instant coverage and smoothness it gives to the skin. Aging is kicking me in the face literally and I wake up every morning with redness on my face but a tiny bit of this product evens out everything while being waterproof to the maximum. It might work for you normally if you have a baby like skin where dry patches don't show up.

Story Time: This morning after I dropped off my son to school, I came home and moisturized my skin. After that I applied this foundation but then I remembered I had to take a shower. I took a shower without washing my face with any soap but you can imagine the continues running water onto the face. At the end when I came out of the shower I thought to wash my face with a soap and that the foundation would be messed up by now BUT, it was still in place. Aham, no I am not kidding. Only places where I could not find it anymore was my hairline above my forehead so I assume it is not soap resistant. I just buffed it with the soft foundation brush quickly and went out. Everyone started to live happily ever after. *The End* =P

  1. everyone started to live happily ever after lolz.I love the little antics and stories you tell in reviews. It makes the review so real.Anyways,I so totally understand what you mean.I have one such tough nut...laura mercier compact. It just wouldn't budge,so hard to blend so hard to apply. The sponge exfoliates and chafes my skin. But i always love the finish and coverage afterwards. So,in this case tricky application makes the CSP compact not-so-user-friendly i guess.Staying out is a great point though. Definitly a winner in summers.Great review.Love the swatch. So detailed.
