Product Description & Packaging:
Just like I am a big sucker for packaging, I know many of you are as well. The box, inside and out, is a beauty and it was really hard for me when I decided to recycle the box along with hundreds of other boxes I hoarded over time.

The packaging for Pro Palette is gorgeous without any doubt. It has a velvety smooth exterior with embossed silver letters, a decent sized mirror inside and the whole thing is pretty sleek & travel-friendly.

The palette has a total of 16 shadows, top 8 are matte and bottom 8 are shimmer and it comes with a mini eyeshadow primer (5.5g), named Behind The Scenes. Each shadow has 0.55 grams of product. I like how all the shadow names are pretty straightforward, no color-naming-efforts there. Good or bad? You decide.

Overall Experience:
First and most I would like to jump & scream about this gorgeous eyeshadow primer. It holds the shadows on my oily lids for a long long time. Being able to try Behind The Scenes primer with Pro Palette was definitely a steal for me.

Where the packaging for the palette look amazing, it also attracts dust pretty easily and if you are anything like me, you will be constantly wiping the surface. $44 for 16 shadows (and a primer) is a good deal but 0.55 grams of product in each pan means that if you use this palette for everyday wear, you are going to hit pans pretty soon. Considering that some of us end up using only half or even fewer shades from the palette for our no-makeup-makeup looks, you are surely going to end up with half empty palette. Or will it be half full? >.<

Since Lorac claims that shadows can be used both wet and dry, let's get over with the wet part. I tried them with a damp brush and the shadows worked fine as an eyeliner but I am not comfortable using them wet for an eye makeup look where I am blending a few shadows. For me, wet shadows get a lot harder to blend, especially with darker shades.

As for using it dry, most of the matte shadows are super duper chalky. You absolutely have to use a very light hand with the brush to pick up the product and then tap the excess or else you will have the fallout of your life. It is not same with the bottom shimmery ones though. Both light and dark shadows are highly pigmented and I love how they have all mattes in one row and all shimmery ones in another.

Even though the top row is supposed to be matte, White & Lt. Pink has speckles of gold in them. You cannot see that once the shadow is applied so what is the point of confusing me? All the shades blend nicely but lighter matte shades kind of slide off when blending, making sense?

Moving on to my most used and favorite shades; Cream, Taupe, Mauve, Sable, Black, Champagne & Lt. Bronze. Champagne is, however, my love from this palette, the shade looks absolutely gorgeous as a face highlighter too. Longevity completely depends on the conditions, skin type and whether you are wearing an eye primer underneath or not. I did not have any creasing or dulling issues with these shadows but I also always wear eye primer for my oily lids.

Overall, I have a love & less-love relationship with this palette. I always carry it in my travel bag but I avoid using darker shades when I am in a rush because no matter what, the fallout kicks me off. This is a great palette for another main fact that if you want just one palette in your collection which can be used for a super light to super heavy eye makeup look, you can think about investing in this one. And again, a great eye primer and 16 shades, is a good deal for the price.

  1. While I am not a make up person, these colors on this swatch is pretty cool. I think it's cool that you also use it as a highlighter. Thanks for sharing your review with us.

  6. This palette looks like a great give for my wife. I don't have a lot of experience shopping for makeup stuff, but it seems like a fair price.
